Donor Recognition Wall: A Century of Giving, Built to Last

When Recognition Has to Do More Than List Names

The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore came to Adler Display fresh off the completion of Phase 1 of its branded environment with us, looking for a signature installation to mark the culmination of that work — one that could anchor its Centennial Campaign and properly recognize key contributors of the organization. The challenge was turning a donor wall into something more: a tribute to a century of generosity, where a simple list of names wouldn’t do.

What The Associated Needed

The donor wall needed to accommodate a significant number of names across multiple giving levels while maintaining clarity, elegance, and consistency with the established branded environment.

At the same time, the installation had to create a strong architectural presence within a dedicated alcove — balancing meaningful recognition with an engaging, modern experience that reflects the organization’s legacy and ongoing impact.

On top of it all, the wall had to stay a secret. This wasn’t a project that could be workshopped in plain view; planning, fabrication, and installation all had to come together quietly, so the finished piece could be exactly what it was meant to be: a surprise for the community it honors.

From Prototype to Reveal

Adler Display designed, fabricated, and installed a dimensional donor recognition wall that builds upon the visual language introduced in earlier phases. Stained wood panels mounted off the wall establish depth and warmth, while frosted acrylic overlays present donor names in a clear hierarchy across eight giving levels, ranging from $100,000 to $15 million+.

A pattern derived from The Associated’s logo is incorporated into the back wall, adding subtle texture and reinforcing brand identity. Integrated accent lighting enhances the dimensionality of the display, drawing attention to the donor panels and creating a refined, architectural focal point.

To complement the static installation, a 65-inch digital display was integrated into the design, allowing for dynamic storytelling, donor recognition, and campaign messaging that can evolve over time.

Before any of it went into production, Adler’s team built physical mockups and logo prototypes so The Associated could see and touch the actual materials under consideration, this white-glove step shaped real revisions to the materials ultimately used. The full project, from concept through installation into its custom-built alcove, came together on a six-month timeline, all of it under wraps until the reveal.

What The Associated Has Now

A Centennial Donor Recognition Wall that turns donor acknowledgment into an immersive, architectural experience — honoring the generosity that carried The Associated through its first hundred years, with room built in to recognize the donors still to come. As the culminating phase of a multi-stage project, the installation completes a cohesive branded environment that connects The Associated’s history with its future — celebrating a legacy of impact while inspiring continued engagement and support.

“The wall is truly exceptional.”
