Using QR Codes Successfully in Exhibits

Oct 19, 2016 | Articles

QR code, short for Quick Response, are tiny black and white squares formed together to create a machine-readable barcode to store URLs or other vital information. Smartphone users can read QR codes with a scanning application that accesses the phones camera and will send the desired information.

The best part of incorporating a QR code into your exhibit is even if the attendee is leaving your booth, you are still engaging with them.  After the QR code is scanned, the attendee receives contact information, surveys, product demos, and much more.

Here are ways to use QR codes successfully in exhibits:

Business Cards – put a QR code on the back of the business card for recipients to scan. Linking the card back to your website or specific contact information for the staff they engaged with.

Check-In and Badging – Quick and easy self-service solution for attendees to check-in at your exhibit.

Scavenger Hunts – prompt attendees to find and scan QR codes hidden around the exhibit.  After scanning all QR codes, they will be entered into a prize drawing contest.  Make the QR code scan-able after a demonstration to encourage attendees to stay and watch.

Social Media – make it easy for attendees to follow your company. Have a sign with a QR code linking to your social media sites, with an easy one click follow.

Demonstrations – Do you have product you are not demoing at show? Place a QR code next to the product for attendees to scan to view a short video.

Product Pages – printing literature collateral is expensive.  Save your money by generating a QR code that sends information on that specific product, and attendees can read at their own convenience.

Join the Mailing List – create a signup page for the company newsletter, which will further engage attendees long after the show.

QR codes and smart phone applications are a way of the millennials: fast, easy, and visually pleasing. Learn how to engage millennials at your next tradeshow here.
